The pub, previously called the Olde Gardeners Arms, has been acquired by the Wright brothers who own the popular Porta Tapas in Chester.
A careful and sympathetic refurbishment, for this Grade 2 listed building, has been progressing over the past 18 months and is now complete (Aug '25). The original leaded windows and oak wall panelling have been carefully removed, refurbished then reinstalled. Original room layout has been retained but with a slightly larger bar downstairs and the upstairs rooms, previously accommodation for the landlord, have been transformed into additional seating areas which can be booked for eating. A small bar is also located upstairs.
The original mock-Tudor facade has been retained and there is a good sized beer garden at the side of the pub. Freshly prepared food will be prepared in the brand new kitchen and three cask ales will be available from independent breweries.
