Here is the branch diary of meetings and social events for the next few months.

  • Minibus Tour to a Selection of Branch Rural Pubs Friday 9 January 2026 17:30 Cheshire area

    The branch have planned another outing on a minibus to visit some more of the rural pubs in our area. This will be on Friday 9th January 2026 departing from the Mill Hotel, Chester at 5.30pm.

    One of the pubs to be visited is

    The Willey Moor Lock Tavern, The Willey Moor Lock Tavern at Willey Moor Lock, giving a rare opportunity to visit and sample the wares of one of the remotest pubs in the Branch.

    We should be back in Chester by 11.00pm.

    Cost of the trip is £10 per person, cash only.

    The West Cheshire branch will be holding a branch meeting on Thursday 15th January at That Beer Place - Chester starting at 8pm.

  • Exploring Pubs on Either Side of the River Irwell Friday 23 January 2026 Manchester

    Not to be missed exploration of all the interesting and new pubs on either side of the River Irwell led by our champion ale trail curator, Craig Papworth.

    Expect some or all of the following to be included:


    The New Oxford, The New Oxford


    The Kings Arms, The Kings Arms


    Gas Lamp, The Gas Lamp

    and a new pub on the site of the former Granada Studios' "Rovers Return"


    Stables Tavern, The Stables Tavern

    Full details to follow but it is expected that we will catch the 11:26am train from Chester.

    Make sure you've got this one in your diary as it's likely to be special.

    The West Cheshire branch will be holding a branch meeting on Thursday 19th February at The Cellar - Chester starting at 8pm.

    Please come along to have a beer and join in to find out what's happening in the branch and how you can become involved. At this meeting we will also be finalising our branch nominations for the 2027 edition of the Good Beer Guide.

    A chance to visit the pubs in Ludlow led by our chairman Brian Vardy.

    Two Parlour pubs to be visited: The Blood Bay and Dog Hangs Well, plus others and the Ludlow Brewery Tap!

    Depart Chester at 10.20 am for direct train service to Ludlow.
