The branch descended on The Golden Lion - Ashton Hayes on 13 March 2026 to present the Runner's up award in CAMRA'S 2026 national Pub Saving Awards.

The award was presented to Hugo Deyman, chair of AHCHL, who's tireless campaigning helped save the pub. The tenant, Lance Warburton gave a supporting speech that the award was for the whole village community and the support they have shown for the pub since it reopened last August.

The pub was packed, with beer in excellent condition, especially the Weetwood Dark Winter stout! Some welcome food nibbles were provided, the roasted cauliflower bites were delicious.
